Gobble-Gobble Good Swimming by WAVE 8 & Unders!

23 WAVE 8 & Under athletes swam in the Turkey Invitational at Ravenscroft School in Raleigh on November 15th. For many athletes, this was their first competitive experience with WAVE. Katie Sanders and John Healy led the way, as they each won multiple individual events in the 7-8 age group. All of the swimmers did a great job – athletes placing in the Top 6, swimming new events legally, and swimming new personal best times are listed below.

WAVE Fall States is an All Around Success
The WAVE-hosted Fall States Invitational Meet on December 12-14, 2008 at TAC was another swimtacular success for the WAVE short course season. The athletes swam fast and the extended WAVE family shined as they volunteered and came together to run a great championship meet. WAVE Swimmers Race Faster Than Reindeer!
WAVE swimmers were faster than Santa’s reindeer at the Reindeer Meet on December 5-7 at TAC. In addition to their many best times and Top 8 finishes in events, WAVE athletes also had lots of fun and enjoyed seeing the results of their hard work over the first part of the short course season.

Short Course Nationals

WAVE'S ALLISON HENDREN at Short Course Nationals.  Going into the meet seeded somewhere in the 100's Allison swam her 50 Free in a 23.88 placing her 86th and breaking the old team record of 24.18.  Congratulations Allison! 

Many Olympians are at this meet, including Ryan Lochte, Matt Grevers and Garrett-Weber Gale.  Live video of tonight's finals can be found on swimnetwork.com

WAVE Swimming Recognized by USA Swimming as a Level 3 Team

Club Recognition ProgramThe Club Recognition Program is a voluntary program to recognize clubs that demonstrate a commitment to long term club growth, development and stability. Clubs must meet markers measuring business and organizational success, parent and volunteer development, coach development and education, and athlete development and performance. Club's are ranked Level 1 through Level 4.

A Team of Excellence...FOUR Years and Counting

Silver Medal

For the last FOUR years WAVE has been recognized by USA Swimming's National Club Excellence Program.

The Club Excellence Program recognizes the top clubs, up to 200, in the country. Teams are scored based off a FINA Long Course Performance Rating system.

As a result WAVE Swimming has been awarded funding from USA Swimming to enrich the program further.
